Loggers Sign Outfielder Nix for 2010 Season

Team officials announced today that Tony Nix (UC-Riverside) will be joining the La Crosse Loggers for the upcoming 2010 season.
An outfielder for UC-Riverside Nix is currently in his junior season with the Highlanders. Nix recorded a 17- game hitting streak last season while he finished seventh in the Big West Conference in doubles. Last season Nix hit for a .318 average with four home runs and 39 RBI’s. Nix also finished second on his team in slugging percentage, doubles, triples, stolen bases, and steal attempts.
Nix played his high school baseball at Poway High School in Poway, California where in 2006 he was named Team MVP, All-Palomar League, All-Section First Team, All-CIF First Team, and First-Team All-State. He also helped lead his team to the CIF Championship.
Nix, the team’s leadoff hitter, has started in the outfield in six of UC-Riverside’s seven games this season while hitting for a .250 average. His best game so far this season was on February 20th against BYU when he went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Nix and the rest of the Loggers will open this upcoming season on June 2, 2010 as they play host to the visiting Eau Claire Express. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 at Copeland Park.
